~A note about the terrain

At this point Grandpa has left the lower river valleys and is walking in what is considered the Cumberland Plateau, basically the foothills of the Alleghany Mountains,a mountain range which is part of the Appalachians. The Cumberland Plateau is characterized by its sandstone outcroppings and bluffs, cliffs, gorges, rockhouses, natural bridges and waterfalls. West Virginia is 'The Mountain State',and he is now in very rugged territory. Without the help of North Face,Gore-Tex or REI. He is also unarmed.
